VISUAL ACUITY TEST / REFRACTIVE ERROR TEST
A refractive error can be diagnosed by us an eye care professional during a routine eye examination. Testing usually consists of asking the patient to read a vision chart while testing an assortment of lenses to maximize a patient's vision.
A refractive error occurs when the shape of the eye prevents light from focusing directly on the retina. This can be caused by a number of things, such as the length of the eyeball being too long (myopia) or too short (hyperopia), changes in the shape of the cornea (astigmatism) , or a result of aging (presbyopia).
The most common symptom is blurred vision. Other symptoms may include double vision, haziness, glare or halos around bright lights, squinting, headaches, or eye strain
Treatments for refractive errors include eyeglasses, contact lenses OR both together.
It's advisable to have vision checkup every one to two years but it's best to attend earlier if any eye problems occur or if advised by us your optometrist.
