CONTACT LENS CENTER

In order to choose the right type of contact lenses for you, you must work closely with your optometrist. At Eye Street Optometrist, we prescribe contact lenses for a wide variety of concerns, including: nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, multifocal correction, and cosmetic needs.

Eye Street Optometrist provides comprehensive evaluations for all patients to properly determine the best types of contact lenses for them. In addition to an eye exam, optometrists will take into account the measurements of the patient’s cornea and place trial lenses in their eye.

For new contact lens patients are given complete instruction in lens handling, including insertion and removal techniques, and in lens care prior to taking diagnostic lenses home. The patient will be scheduled to return in approximately seven to 10 days as they build their wearing time so the optometrist can assess vision, prescription, comfort, appearance and health while they’re wearing the lenses. If any adjustments are needed, they are made prior to ordering the final lenses for the patient.

After care examination for contact lens wearer is important as well. It's advisable to have routine aftercare contact lens eye examination every one to two years but it's best to attend earlier if any eye problems occur or if advised by us your optometrist. The goal of a contact lens aftercare is to determine if your current contact lenses are correcting your vision well (to determine any power change) and checking the health of the front surface of the eye in detail as this is where the contact lens sits. (to avoid infection due to contact lens). The aim is to make sure that any niggles you have with your contact lenses, whether that be an issue with the vision or comfort of the lenses, can be discussed in detail and addressed as necessary by altering your current lenses or changing to a new type of lens or solution.
